Open Studio Prep

It’s the Spring Open Studios at Grenaby tomorrow and as the base of the Isle of Man Nature Journal and the workplace for me as an artist, you can imagine there’s a bit of tidying and organisation to do! I’m sharing a quick look at some of the preparation and a couple of photos of the fantastic Castletown Beach in this week’s blog post. We’ve been enjoying some lovely weather on the Isle of Man lately and the Island is looking so beautiful! Gorgeous scenery and a chance to buy some original artwork – what’s not to love!

Invitation to Grenaby Artists Spring Open Studios on 26th April, 10 AM-4 PM. Features art, ceramics, and a pop-up from The Parish Pantry.
Wooden cabin with a curved roof, set against a clear sky and bare trees. A potted plant sits by the door, creating a cozy, serene vibe.

The studio looks great from the outside…

Cozy pod art studio with wooden arched ceiling. Paintings on easels, white drawers, colorful decorations, and art supplies scattered around.

Unfortunately, it’s rather a tip within.

The only way for me to make it properly presentable is to move the unneeded stuff into my car, so the real tidying always has to be a last minute thing.

Nevertheless, I have made a start by locating all my stock of cards, mugs and paintings to sell. Many of my originals sold last year, but I still have a few, including some of those featured on the Isle of Man Nature Journal Map. Block Eary and Verdant Sunlight are still keeping me company in the studio but will be up for sale on Saturday. I also have lots of greeting cards, stickers and prints to sell and still have a few coasters of the Isle of Man Pebbles series left – these are great as a gift!

A black card holder with four rows of greetings cards. A painting of a bird in winter trees with no leaves sits behind.
A painting of hills and a broken stone wall.
Four greetings cards of pebbles with a bound pack of the cards next to them.
A predominantly green painting of a woodland river with rocks and trees. around it.
A pile of art prints.
two of the unmounted prints. One shows a kingfisher with its turquoise and orange feathers. The other shows a red ibis with its scarlet feathers and very long pink beak.

I’ll displaying some of my sketchbooks and other drawings that have featured on this blog, so if you just want to pop in to say hi and have a look, it’d be lovely to see you. Please don’t feel like you need to buy anything (although I will have my SumUp machine with me just in case)!

A watercolour and coloured pencil sketch of some ivy leaves up close. The leaves are green and the veining is seen clearly on each leaf.

I promised some photos of the gorgeous Castletown Beach as I was lucky enough to eat my tea in this spot yesterday. What a glorious Island we live on!

Stony beach with two people walking; clear blue sky and ocean in the background. Pebbles and green algae on the sand. Calm and serene mood.

I look forward to seeing you at the Open Studios tomorrow if you can make it. Not only do we have refreshments from the Parish Pantry, we also have His Excellency Sir John Lorimer and Lady Lorimer visiting at 2pm and we’re all very excited! I’d better get back to tidying!
